Apparently all it took was the shame of telling the whole internet about my unfinished projects. I reduced the number of remaining rows and finished up the slouchy purple hat last night with just inches to spare.

Is there any benefit to teaching myself how to knit both ways? I learned English, but whenever I read about knitting I see comments about how “awkward” “slow” and “inefficient” English style is. Should I learn Continental too?

Also, various project updates and frustrations:

Well, I finally finished the hoodie blanket for Joaquin and sent it off to him. Didn’t get very good pictures of it, but hopefully sis will take some of him in it and send ‘em to me.

Oh, how much do I hate finishing? So, so much. Hoodie blanket is done, except for weaving in ends. Really need to get on that…

Next project might be a cabled slouchy hat for – OMG! – me! But I only have red yarn and would prefer something maybe in purple. Or cream.

Woohoo! Thanks to my Secret Santa (Mom) I got a set of interchangeable needle tips and cables for Christmas, along with a yarn swift and ball winder. (Too bad I don’t have any yarn that needs winding at the moment; I totally want to play with them.) I’m really psyched about the needles – they seem to be nice quality, and I’m really looking forward to being able to pick up a pattern and know I have the needles for it.

Of course, I need to finish the two projects I’m currently working on before I can even start a new pattern… Finished the hat part of the previously mentioned and hopefully toddler-sized hat, but can’t decide if I want to do the kitty or the devil embellishments.

I’m struggling right now with a hat I’m making for my nephew. I have the pattern for the Lil’ Devil Baby Hat. The pattern gives no indication of size – just the word “baby” in the title. My nephew is two years old, so he’s not really a baby anymore.
