about
I’ve always aspired to be crafty, but never felt very successful at it. When we moved into our current apartment, the third bedroom was claimed as my Crafty Room. The intent was to buy a sewing machine and use the room as my Base of Crafty Operations. But here I am, almost three years later, and still no sewing machine. (The name Crafty Room stuck, nonetheless.)
Then one day I remembered that I had been really good at making friendship bracelets as a kid, and dammit, knitting couldn’t be all that different. So I bought the ubiquitous Stitch ‘N Bitch book, some cheap yarn and cheap needles and set to work.
I still consider myself a newbie knitter, a year or so later. I won’t really think of myself as accomplished at the craft until I make something that has to fit someone, like a sweater. But several blankets, scarves, hats, and mittens later, I am feeling like I can finally call myself Crafty.
I hope to use this blog to document my progress and give shout-outs to my favorite patterns, knitters, bloggers, and other muses. I’ll also post about cooking, which I’ve decided is a sufficiently creative endeavor that it may be considered a Craft.
